In September 2024, I went to a local fiber fair and found a stall selling some alpaca yarns - I'll probably make a page about this excursion specifically but I'll share the cutie alpaca doll they sold. Its fluff is real alpaca fluff!
I bought a skein of alpaca-sheep wool yarn from this shop and decided I would make a cute hat out of it. Uh, I chose this kind of project before I understood that alpaca is not a particularly structured yarn. But anyway! This project was my first time doing cables and making pom poms.
To keep my sanity, I placed point protectors on my dpns to help prevent dropping of stitches. I didn't have the worst time learning cables, actually I had a lot of fun! However, I'm a bit confused at the bobbles in the pattern. I followed the instructions, but it looks like the actual bobbles...are on the wrong side? I'm not sure what I did wrong here, and me trying this on a scraf nets similar results. Maybe there's something I'm missing here?
I'll admit I can get a little hard on myself with these retrospectives. I'm still learning how to manage gauge so I find I'm prone to size screwy-ness. It leans slouchy and large on me. I would like to make this pattern again at some point though.
